Investing in a child is the best way I know to tangibly alter a future generation. Mentoring a child requires such a small investment on your part as a mentor, but you end up reaping a huge rate of return on that investment!
Mentoring through FIKE has provided me with a great opportunity to not only serve the community, but to also form what I hope is a life-long relationship with Deante. I have gotten to know, and formed a bond with, a child and his family that I wouldn’t have gotten to know otherwise.
FIKE provides a safe and structured environment for our students with a focus on building relationships and supporting our students academically, socially, and emotionally. For our students that attend, we see an increase in academic performance and the reduction of risky behavior.
I am so thankful for this program. I am so glad I joined this year….believe me, my husband and I enjoy our time with my FIKE Friend….always fun to have a little one around. She is a precious child and I can’t begin to express the ways this has touched my life.
My FIKE Friend likes me to come to school one week and FIKE the next. He’s been great, and it’s been an amazing experience so far.
A friend and I cooked dinner one night for the FIKE kids, and I have to say – it melts your heart to see how sweet all those kids are!
